A 14-year-old from Flagler County was bitten just after 11 a.m. in Ponce Inlet, north of the jetty. During a junior lifeguard camp drill, a group of children raced into the water and the teen ran into a smaller shark. Officials described the injuries as very minor and called it a bite-and-release situation.

This record is kept by NSB Watch, a watchmaker on this beach. One of its dive watches is named the Shark Bite.
